Tuesday, May 21 ~ Daniel arrives to live at our house for two weeks to entertain Boscoe, feed cats and assorted fish, and water my flowers.

Wednesday, May 22 ~ 10am – Five hour flight San Jose to Hawaii. Two hour layover in Honolulu. 45-minute flight to Kona.  Drive 2.5 hours to the coast south of Pahoa.  Driving map for the day: http://goo.gl/maps/gc5uy

Thursday, May 23 ~ Drive 90 minutes to Volcanoes National Park to explore and spend the day melting our shoes.

Friday, May 24 ~ Explore waterfalls in the Hilo area.  Waterfalls we hope to capture and shoot include:

Waiale Falls

Kulaniapia Falls 

Rainbow Falls

Peepee Falls

Akaka Falls 

The elusive Umauma Falls

We may also find the Botanical Gardens and 4 mile drive.  If there is no time for the Botanical Gardens today, we will stop by tomorrow on our drive to Kona.

Saturday, May 25 ~ Drive Pahoa to Kona stopping every 3 feet for photos.

It says 3 hours and 12 minutes, but that’s if you do not stop every 3 feet for photos.  So we plan to take the whole day, including a stop at the Hilo Farmer’s Market on the way through.

Sunday, May 26 ~ 9am-2pm Snorkel BBQ cruise to Kealakekua Bay.

We plan to spend the rest of the day exploring Kona on foot and have dinner at Huggos on the Rocks.

Monday, May 27 ~ Breakfast across the street at Basik Acai, then we’ll spend the day swimming and exploring Kona.  At 5pm we have reservations for the Royal Kona Luau!

Tuesday, May 28 ~ Get up at Oh God! thirty to drop rental car at 6:30 am and depart Kona 8:30 am.  Arrive Honolulu 9:15. Depart 10 am for 30-minute flight to Kauai.  Pick up rental car, get groceries and settle into condo on the beach in Poipu.

Wednesday, May 29 ~ Drive to Hanalei Bay shooting Kiluea Lighthouse on the way.  Visit Ke’e Beach (possible snorkeling), definite snorkeling at Tunnels Beach.  Explore the area and scout the beaches along the way for ones we want to visit over weekend.

Thursday, May 30 ~ 2:15 –Sunset Dinner Cruise Na Pali Coast

Friday, May 31 ~ Wailua Falls, Opaekaa Falls, Lydgate beach and Hukilau Lanai in Kapaa

Saturday, June 1 ~ Hiking in Waimea Canyon State Park

Sunday, June 2 ~ Relax and explore any of a hundred of beaches.

Monday June 3 ~ Do MORE of anything we have not yet had enough.  More Hanalei Bay or Na Pali Coast would be a good guess.

Tuesday, June 4 ~ Relax on the beach and pack.

Wednesday, June 5 ~ 10 am flight Kauai to Maui 45-minutes.  Maui to San Jose 5 hours landing at 8pm Cali time.  Boscoe!  and 90 minute drive to home.

Thursday, June 6 ~ LOVE Boscoe.

Friday, June 7 ~ unpack and sleep!

Saturday and Sunday June 8 & 9 ~ WORK to pay for vacation.

Monday, June 10 ~ Take a day off to relax!

  1. Seething with absolute jealousy!! Wow, you have a fun filled, action packed vacation! Love the little quip about women being able to ask for directions (HA! HA!). This is going to be so amazing and I look forward to viewing all your beautiful pictures!! Escape, relax, enjoy!
