The 68th Annual Cranberry Festival ~ Teaser

Well, I am four days behind in processing my photos for blog posts.  Just too darn busy shooting new ones to sort through the ones I want to post for you.  At this rate I will be posting through Christmas!  Any way, didn’t want you thinking that I am slacking or anything, so here are a few shots from today.

Since we arrived in Bandon, people have been talking about the three-day Cranberry Festival this weekend.  It includes lots of events including a car show, a street dance, a foot race and a parade.  Now honestly, I was pretty impressed with the parade!  I come from a town of over 100,000 and our annual Fourth of July parade is as dull as they get.

Bandon hosts a population of slightly over 3,000 and they put together a GREAT parade that lasted over an hour!  This is just a taste of the Cranberry Festival.  More to come!

The lead float is part of the Washed Ashore Project, Art to Save the Sea.
It’s made entirely of garbage found in the ocean!

It wouldn’t be a parade without the Sheriff’s Posse!

They had some SWEET old rides in the parade and on display after.

Fish and Chips

If you ever find yourself within 100 miles of Astoria and you love fish and chips, you WILL want to stand in line for an hour (or more) to eat at the Bowpicker for albacore fish and chips done to delightful deliciousness!  Seriously the BEST fish and chips I ever ate and totally WORTH standing in line for an hour.

Getting closer…

I feel bad I didn’t take a photo of the fish.  They were as lovely as they were delicious, but I was well past starved by the time I got the goodies.

Just eat there.
